Julie began painting after graduating from the University of Winnipeg with the gold medal in music. After trying a variety of mediums, she became fascinated with oil painting and how, with just the right combination of colours placed correctly, you could create the same magic on canvas that the right combination of notes could create in music.
Over the next several years, Julie studied extensively with internationally acclaimed artists throughout the United States, focusing mainly on landscape painting.
In 2012 a mischievous little rescue-dog named Bucky entered Julie’s home and heart, and the conversion to DOG PERSON was nearly instantaneous. Two weeks later Julie’s first portrait of Bucky was drying, marking the beginning of her career as a portrait and wildlife artist. Her landscapes and animal portraits are enjoyed internationally, and held in collections across Canada, the USA and Australia.
